Before you call

Safe, simple checks. If anything feels hot, smells of burning or buzzes, stop and call instead.
Keeps tripping
- Unplug everything on that circuit.
- Reset the switch that dropped.
- Plug things back one at a time. If it trips straight away with nothing plugged in, call us.
Burning smell or scorch marks
- Switch off at the main switch.
- Don’t touch the socket or switch.
- Call us. If there’s smoke or flame, call 999.
Whole house is dark
- Check the main switch on your board.
- Look outside. Are the neighbours dark too?
- If the street is out, it’s the network. Call the free power cut line.
